Life is full of choices, from the easy enough to the soul wrenching up at night forks in the road. I mean we all make a million choices everyday before breakfast or do we even have breakfast! AHHH
One of the worst situations you can find yourself in is paralysis by analysis. Over thinking a situation and not doing anything, or at the very least getting a late start on something that could truly add value to your life. Very few of us are fortunate enough to know what we want or find our passion early on in life. If you are such a fortunate person you get a leg up on the competition by getting after it sooner. One of the best examples is Warren Buffett. His father was an investor and be caught the bug at age 7 and by age 12 he had read every investment book in the Omaha public library. It seemed to work out for him!
Now if you are not blessed enough to be worth 70 billion dollars, then some of these choices can seem very daunting. I encourage you (and me) to after much contemplation to just trust your gut. Now you may be thinking "Well no shit Kris I was hoping for a magic pill here!" Well sorry kidthere are no magic pills. See here is the power of the made up mind, is that if you just go with your gut after gathering as many facts as you can, at least you've done something and are moving forward. I've found that life is great in that it will let you know fairly quickly if you've made the right decision. Now I'm not talking about passions which you should always follow even if you get kicked in teeth for a while. I'm talking about having a couple of real good options or a few shitty ones.
Here's the thing, even if you pick one and fail or the girl you decide to hit on has a boyfriend with a temper who just went to the restroom. As long as he or the decision doesn't kill you, you can learn from it and equip yourself to make a better decision next time. As they say experience is a hard teacher, because the test is given before the lesson.
So here is what I want from you. The next time you're up at night sweating bullets, make up your mind on a direction and run with it. I guarantee it will give you peace of mind and a better nights sleep. No Ambien needed!
