If you've ever worked a job ever in life anywhere, on Monday morning you've probably heard, "Ugh Monday" or "Just trying to make it to quitting time." or The Office Spaces "Somebody's got a case of the Mondays."
I've been guilty of this too. I'm not going to lie, sometimes Mondays make me want to stay in bed and make a sweet ass pillow fort. Actually, that doesn't sound half bad. Anyway, I was wondering, does it have to be like this?
What would our lives look like if we actually embraced the start of the work week? Or better yet, how do we embrace our Mondays?
One way is to realize we won't always have a Monday to bitch, dread, or complain about. As I've gotten older, I've realized how fast time is moving. In a blink of an eye Monday turns into Sunday night and early 20's turn into 30's. I'm sure you can relate.
So don't take a single day for granted especially a day that comes every week! Instead we should be mindful of every moment in our lives and realize the beauty all around us. How does the sky look on our way to work? What funny story can you share with your co-workers to lighten the mood in the office? You know instead of making everyone search for a razor blade and a fat vein. So embrace your Mondays you don't know how many you will get.
Another great way to embrace your Monday is to recognize that it is a new chance to bring your vision that much closer to reality. My first point was that time moves fast, kinda like toilet paper, in that it goes faster towards the end. That is certainly true. However, I've found that you can leverage that fact by realizing with hard work and dedication your goals really are within reach.
With UppwardLife my goal is to have X amount of readers and a certain amount of influence. While I would love for that to happen over night, I would probably have better luck beating a 15 year old at Pokemon, so I try to be realistic. So I've embraced the movement of time and realized that if I keep plugging away and refining my craft, with enough Monday's under my belt UppwardLife can get there. What vision can you bring into existence with enough Mondays?
Odds are if you are in a position to dread Mondays you probably have a job. Which mean you earn a paycheck. Which means you are a provider. So take pride in the fact that with every Monday you get to enhance your lifestyle. Either by being able to book that sweet cabin in the mountains, relaxing beach vacation, or provide the best life for your children you can. Food on the table is always appreciated, trust me!
Too often we get caught up in living for the weekend. That magical moment between Friday around five o'clock to around Sunday around noon. I mean lets face it, if you're stuck in the rat race cycle of just paying bills and surviving Sunday night is fucking depressing. Well besides that hour block of time when your favorite show comes on and you get to forget about your own life for a while. Speaking of which is Game of Thrones back on yet???
My challenge to you is to create a life full of passion and excitement. Where it doesn't matter if its Saturday morning or Monday morning, because your so engaged and full of life that people would pay a dollar and a quarter just to watch you do your thing.
Look life has its ups and downs, but your valleys shouldn't come at the same time once a week! So embrace that bastard child called Monday, it needs a little love too.
What are some ways you can or do embrace your Monday? Comment and share!
Best of life, Kris
