I wanted to take a moment to step back and give us all a few gentle reminders. Too often in our busy lives we get caught up in our own little hamster wheel, lead narrowly by our self-imposed blinders. Rarely taking a moment to look around and reflect on all the life that is actually taking place.
I want us to remember to be kind. Being kind is one of those things that don't cost much other than a willingness to step outside of ourselves. Being kind isn't only a decent thing to do, you can also use it as a means to an end, if that's what gets you into the habit. Think of it as a social lubricant. You can make life so much easier by a thoughtful gesture or a kind word. People tend to reciprocate how you treat them. The Golden Rule is golden for a reason.
Don't be a dick.
I want us to remember that life is not a competition. We are all unique souls here to have unique experiences. Very few people are going to see the world the way you do. Not everybody is going to want a huge house or a big family or to back pack across Europe smelling like patchouli and weed. That's OK. Everybody's experience is their own. The main point is YOU enjoying and getting the most out of the life that you are blessed to live.
So remember to not compare yourself and circumstances to anyone else. Your only competition should be, who you were yesterday.
I want us to remember to take care of our health. We only get one body and our days here are too few as it is. No need to literally run yourself into the ground by sitting on your ass and eating like shit. I don't know about you, but I'm allergic to pain, it hurts me! So why not pick up some fruit on the way to an outdoor adventure and hold off that massive heart-attack, that I can only imagine hurts like hell.
At least for a little while longer.
Finally, I want us to remember that we have infinite potential. I recently heard it put like this. Imagine an iceberg in an ocean. The part you can see sticking out of the water, is your consciousness, the part of you who experiences stimuli between your ear holes. The part of the iceberg under water is your subconscious, the part of you who is able to keep your blood pumping and all sorts of stuff you don't have to think about. And the ocean is the infinite universe. See, all the iceberg is, is crystallized water. Just like we are crystallized out of the infinite universe.
Each one of us has the power to manifest into reality anything we set our minds to. Whether you realize it or not, the universe it constantly manifesting something new, either positive or negative. And so are you. It's not anybody's fault but our own, if we are not living the life we want to live. Not spouses, kids, friends or the man holding us down. These are just excuses utilized by the lazy thinker.
Set an intention and pursue it.
The vast majority of us, I believe, make life way more difficult than it needs to be. I know for a fact that I have. My past self-limiting beliefs and actions were continuous roadblocks to joy, peace, and a bunch of other fun stuff I didn't think I was worthy of.
So, I just wanted to gently remind us to get out of our own way and get to living life in a more self-actualized way. After all that's what UppwardLife is all about!
Best of life, Kris
